A campus visit offers a unique opportunity to become more familiar with the University, Department, faculty, and current graduate students.
By no means is a visit a requirement, however, many students find it helpful to plan a visit to the Department of Geography, Environment, and Spatial Sciences and Michigan State University either before they apply for admission or after their application has been submitted for consideration.
If you would like to set up a visit, we suggest that you first review our faculty and their research interests to decide which faculty you would like to meet during your visit. You can find faculty and their bios in our directory. Once you have identified the faculty with research interests that align with yours, please contact Joni Burns, Academic Program Coordinator at geograd@msu.edu, or call her at 517 355-4650. Ms. Burns will assist you in coordinating your visit. Please note that faculty do travel frequently and have busy schedules so they may not be available for meetings during your visit, especially if you plan your visit on short notice.
During your visit to the Department of Geography, Environment, and Spatial Sciences you can expect one-on-one meetings with faculty, a group lunch with current graduate students, and meetings with the Department Chair and the Graduate Director. The Department of Geography, Environment, and Spatial Sciences is more than happy to arrange visits with other departments in your area and thematic studies.
