12th Annual Geography Graduate Student Presentation Competition

The Department of Geography, Environment, and Spatial Sciences and TripleG invite you to the 12th Annual Student Presentation Competition on Friday, February 18, 2022. Five outstanding research presentations will be shared via Zoom.

The schedule will be as follows. Please note all times will be approximate. 

10:10-10:30 | Mehmet Eroğlu Making and unmaking a mining city: The historical geography of Zonguldak, Turkey's historic center for coal extraction

10:30-10:50 | Michelle Bullock | Mapping disaster recovery in an agrarian society: The Great Cyclone of 1970

10:50-11:10 | Hyunseo Park | Do Bans on Harmful Marketing Protect Children Equally?: A geospatial analysis of harmful product marketing in public outdoor spaces

11:10-11:30 | Katie Brown | Nature views from the classroom window associated with lower behavior problems among children

11:30-11:50 | Vasya Tolmanov | Snowbank impacts on frozen foundations in cities of continuous permafrost zone 

Judges will include Dr. Geoffrey Henebry, Dr. Monika Tomaszewska, Dr. Arika Ligmann-Zielinska, and Dr. Nathan Moore. 15 mins will be allocated for each presentation with 5 mins for the Q&A.

Awards will be presented at the April 22 Department Awards ceremony.
