Research Synopsis:

My research interests revolve around answering the question: How does a person’s neighborhood and location of daily activities affect their health? Census tract-level analyses of variables including, but not limited to, illness/disorder prevalence, household income, poverty rates, proximity to grocery stores, availability of leisure time physical activities and healthcare access allow insight into specific neighborhood effects. The significance of this research is that a census tract-level, neighborhood effects analysis will lead to a better understanding of how to reduce the racial disparities gap between neighborhoods and health outcomes in metropolitan areas.
