My interests are primarily in biogeography, spatial modeling, and cartography. I believe geography provides powerful tools for visualizing spatial data and transmitting scientific knowledge. The focus of my research revolves around marginal agricultural lands and development opportunities in Malawi. I approach identifying these marginal areas through a time-series analysis of remotely sensed and ground data products, field work, and literature review of crop profiles. The ultimate goal of this work is to produce detailed maps that can be used for targeting technological advancements and other intervention efforts in order to improve agricultural systems.
