Research Synopsis:

I am a PhD student doing Health and Medical Geography in the department of Geography, Environment, and Spatial Sciences. I have a master’s degree in Public Health-Health Promotion from Leeds Metropolitan University. I am also an Environmental Science and Policy Program fellow. I have immense experience in infectious diseases research especially HIV/AIDS and most of my research is in poor rural communities of Uganda. My research interests are in HIV/AIDS, health disparities, gender issues, infectious diseases, human-environment interactions, food insecurity and in water issues especially water access in sub-Saharan Africa. My dissertation project seeks to understand the contextual and broader structural factors that facilitate risky sexual behaviors for elevated HIV infections among young women in rural southwestern Uganda. My research findings are crucial in the formulation of context-based evidence informed polices and interventions to reduce HIV/AIDS-related infections and deaths.
