Research Synopsis:

I am a PhD student doing Health and Medical Geography in the department of Geography, Environment, and Spatial Sciences. I have a Master’s degree in Public Health-Health Promotion from Leeds Metropolitan University. I am also an Environmental Science and Policy Program fellow. I have immense experience in infectious diseases research especially HIV/AIDS and most of my research is in poor rural communities. My research interests are in water issues especially water access, health disparities, gender issues, infectious diseases, human-environment interactions, social networks and food insecurity in sub-Saharan Africa. I am currently working on a research project that seeks to understand whether rainwater harvesting has the potential to reduce water insecurity stressors and food insecurity in the rural, semi-arid Savannah of South-Western Uganda.  My proposed dissertation topic is on the Political Ecology and Political Economy of the Hydro-Social Cycle in semi-arid Sub-Saharan Africa.
