TITLE: GIS/SPECIAL ASSESSMENT INTERN GRADE: NA

JOB SUMMARY Under the supervision of a higher classifed employee, will be responsible for completing public and departmental map requests as needed using ESRI ArcGIS software. Provide assistance to staff on a variety of other projects. May be required to work in other government agency offices, as tasks require.
Other activities will include assisting with:
*Digitizing and editing features
*Records research and Watershed Planning
*Interpret survey descriptions and legal documentation, with extensive use of coordinate geometry
EXPERIENCE Qualified applicant will have experience with ESRI, ArcGIS, ArcGIS Online as well as a strong computer background. Education and/or experience in areas related to public administration, geography, surveying, engineering, GPS, cartography, urban or environmental planning is desirable.
SKILLS DESIRED Good verbal and written communication skills Good customer service skills, with both internal and external customers Ability to work well in both groups and individually Good research skills, with attention to details Computer skills including: Internet research, Microsoft Excel, Access, Publisher, BS&A Equalizer, Sketch Up, Photoshop, and ESRI ArcGIS suite of products. Familiarity with ESRI Collector.
DURATION OF INTERNSHIP Must be able to work a minimum of 20 hours per week. A commitment of at least six months is desired. Qualified applicants must be active students in an academic program studying a discipline directly related to the scope of work. Proof of enrollment in an academic program will be required upon hire and every six months afterward.
