Jeralyn Poe – 2020 Outstanding Geography Senior
Congratulations to recent MSU graduate and the 2020 Outstanding Geography Senior Jeralyn Poe! Jeralyn is from Lincoln, Nebraska, and has earned a BS in Environmental Geography with a concentration in Atmospheric and Climate Science and a minor in Geographic Information Science. While searching for a major, she knew she wanted to pursue a field related to Earth or Environmental Science. When Jeralyn discovered the Geography Department, she knew she had found the perfect fit. Just before her Junior year, Jeralyn completed a summer internship with Dr. David Reed. One of her favorite memories was landing the opportunity to present her research from that experience at the American Geophysical Union (AGU) Fall Meeting in 2018. Her favorite professor was Kyla Dahlin because she has a natural talent for teaching, can make any topic interesting, and is an all-around awesome human being. We wish Jeralyn all the best as she heads to Northern Arizona University in the fall to enter the Ecological and Environmental Ph.D. program.
Congratulations to 2020 MSU graduate Matthew Bradlee! Matthew hails from Rochester Hills, Michigan, and has earned his BS in Economic Geography with a Minor in Economics. He became interested in Geography after taking an introductory course in economic geography. His favorite Geography professor was Gary Schnakenberg. We wish Matthew well as he embarks on a new career with RT Systems in Farmington Hills, where he will be specializing in warehouse management systems design and supply chain solutions.
Congratulations to 2020 MSU graduate Matt Hadden! Matt is from Portage, Michigan, and has earned his BS in Environmental Geography. His favorite Geography professor was Dr. Randy Schaetzl. Matt particularly enjoyed joining fellow classmates for a field trip to Kansas with Dr. Alan Arbogast while enrolled in Regional Geomorphology (GEO 407). Best wishes to Matt as he begins his next educational endeavor – pursuing a master’s degree in Environmental Resource Management at Central Washington University.
Congratulations to 2020 MSU graduate Theo Roberts! Theo hails from Malvern, Pennsylvania, and has earned a BS in Human Geography. He became interested in Geography because he has always been interested in environmental studies. Although initially majoring in Dietetics, Theo knew he wanted to shift his focus to the environmental sector. Professor Schnakenberg helped play an important role in making that change. His favorite MSU Geography memory was having Professor Schnakenberg as a teacher because his enthusiasm in the classroom made it impossible to not be attentive and want to learn. Best wishes to Theo as he applies for jobs in hopes of finding a position in HR and public relations in the environmental sector.
Congratulations to 2020 MSU graduate Hayden Tucker! Hayden hails from St. Clair, Michigan, and has earned his BS in Geographic Information Science with a minor in Defense Studies and Leadership. His favorite Geography professor was Dr. Ashton Shortridge. During his time as a student at MSU, Hayden served in the Army ROTC program and he was just commissioned as an officer. He hopes to work in the field of Geospatial Intelligence.
